Many say
that the movement really began in 1975 when a man named Victoras
Kulvinskas wrote a book called Survival Into the 21st
Century, in which he described the health benefits of eating
only raw foods and how such a diet could greatly extend human life
and rid the world of various ailments
Viktoras
Kulvinskas, author of Survival Into The
21st Century, The Lover's Diet, Sprout For the Love of
Everybody, and other books, is a leading authority on raw foods.
He has also contributed articles to many new age journals, among
them "Vegetarian Voice," "Vegetarian Times," "Vegetarian World,"
"Health Street Journal," and "Alternatives."
He travels extensively and has given seminars for the World
Symposium on Humanity in Canada and Australia and has lectured at
such events as the New Earth Exposition, the Whole Earth Festival,
the World Vegetarian Congress, the Cancer Victims and Friends
Convention, the National Health Federation Convention, and many
others.
Founder of the Hippocrates Health Institute with Ann Wigmore
in the late 1960's, he has since done much work and research into
the value of living foods and plant enzymes.
The International Raw Foods
Association considers Victoras "The Father of the Modern Raw Foods
Movement" and has given him its highest award...the Golden Branch
Award.
